Lucy Maud Montgomery in Norval, Ontario

Lucy Maud Montgomery spent nearly ten years, 1926-1935, writing and making a home in Norval, a small village on the Credit River 30 Kilometers northwest of Toronto. The Norval Community Association commissioned Lisa Lightbourn Lay, of www.tellingstorys.ca to produce this fascinating tourism video about the life and times of Lucy Maud Montgomery. A project like this is the result of Norval’s good fortune to have worked with Lisa who dared to dream with us, the fans and scholars including Dr. Mary Rubio, world expert University of Guelph professor emeritae and author of “The Gift of Wings” a biography of the literary icon Lucy Maud Montgomery Canada’s famous author of “Anne of Green Gables” and 22 other novels. Lisa went above and beyond the call of duty in the production of our tourism video.  Her contribution will give visitors a glimpse into the world behind the scenes of Montgomery’s life in Norval.Step into the village where Lucy Maud Montgomery lived when she wrote five books after her Anne of Green Gables series and documented an era in Canadian history in her personal hand written journals.Visit the Lucy Maud Montgomery Heritage Gardens, featuring an interpretative gazebo, and information kiosk, a short walk to the Willow Park Ecology Centre to start your historic walking tour of the village.  Reflect by Russell’s Hill of Pines, the Credit River, McNab Park, learn about our early settlers in our two pioneer cemeteries along the way. The Presbyterian manse and church are private except during Sunday Church service.  A short distance away by car visit the Lucy Maud Montgomery Museum located in Crawford’s Village Bakeshop.
